By default each OpenHands session runs in a Docker container (use_host_network=false), with a discouraged 'local, no isolation' mode plus remote/cloud backend options. It is mid-refactor; third-party runtimes (E2B/Modal/Daytona) were moved out of the core in 2025. Fully open-source and self-hostable.
